Anti-Discrimination Policy
Seabury-Western Theological Seminary seeks to affirm the ministry of all persons who are faithfully living out their vocations within the Seabury community, be they students, staff or faculty, without prejudice to any person regardless of race, color, gender, age, physical disability, height or weight, national and ethnic origin, marital status, sexual orientation/identity, or gender identification. We are intentional in following the Baptismal Covenant (Book of Common Prayer, pp. 304-305) striving for justice and peace among all people and respecting the dignity of every human being.
The Seabury community also makes its mission to welcome and include divergent theological perspectives and social views. In our individual and common search for truth, the seminary encourages the vital discussion and debate that is integral to our academic program; that which makes tangible and visible in extraordinary ways our genuine learning, faithfulness and mutuality.
The Seabury community believes that the continuing purpose of preparing leaders for the mission of the church is its prophetic manifestation of the biblical, theological, and philosophical perspectives gained through addressing difficult issues as a part of Christian witness and ministry. In this way we continue in the apostles' teaching. It is in this that we seek and serve Christ and one another.
