Biography

Robert G. Bottoms

A member of the Seabury-Western Board of Trustees since 2001, new board chair Dr. Robert Bottoms is Director of the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. In July, 2008 he became President Emeritus of DePauw. Dr. Bottoms is an active lay member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Bloomington, IN. He and his wife, the former Gwendolynn Jean Vickers, have two adult children.

Wendell N. Gibbs, Jr.

The Bishop of Michigan since 2000, Vice-Chair The Rt. Rev. Wendell N. Gibbs, Jr. is a 1987 graduate of Seabury-Western. He served churches in Rockford IL, New York and Cincinnati OH before he was elected bishop coadjutor of the Diocese of Michigan on October 2, 1999. Bishop Gibbs became an alumni representative on the Board of Trustees in 1996 and was elected a regular trustee in 1999. Bishop Gibbs is married to Karlah Ambrose York and he has two adult step-children.

Anne Lea Tuohy

Mrs. Anne Lea Tuohy, a parishioner of St. Elisabeth's Church in Glencoe IL, was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2006. An active laywoman in the Episcopal Church, Anne has served as a deputy to General Convention in 2000, 2003 and 2006. In the Diocese of Chicago, she serves on the Christian Formation Commission, and in Province V, she is chair and coordinates the ministry of the Christian Education and Formation Committee. In the national church, she works as contract staff as professional advisor and consultant with the Office of Christian Education and Children's Ministries She lives with her husband John in Glencoe and they are the parents of three adult children. Anne is an aluma of Vassar College.

Gwynne Wright

A 2004 graduate of Seabury-Western, the Rev. Gwynne Wright serves as President of the Alumni Association and has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2003 and is now the Secretary of the Board. In additional to her Master of Divinity from Seabury-Western, the Rev. Wright has a bachelor's degree from Marymount College in Tarrytown NY, an MBA in Quantitative Analysis from St. John's University in Jamaica NY, and a Master of Human Resource Management from the Keller Graduate School of Management in Oakbrook Terrace IL. She most recently served at St. James Church in West Dundee IL.

Roger Lumpp

Roger Lumpp, managing director with KPMG LLP, is the newly elected Treasurer for the Seabury-Western Board of Trustees. For the past 20 years, he has been involved in a wide range of consulting assignments covering major aspects of business integration, improving business effectiveness and efficiency. Prior to joining KPMG LLP, he was a managing director with BearingPoint and a partner with Arthur Andersen's business consulting group. Prior to Andersen, Roger spent 20 years in the financial services industry in executive positions with two publicly held insurance centered corporations. He received his undergraduate degree from Wabash College and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Roger lives in Northfield with his wife Susan.

James W. Gladden, Jr.

After his 1964 graduation cum laude from Harvard Law School, James Gladden joined the law firm of Mayer Brown in Chicago and was a lawyer there for 42 years before retiring as a partner on April 11, 2005. Mr. Gladden earned an AB with honors and high distinction in 1961 from DePauw University and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He is now Senior Counsel at Mayer Brown. Mr. Gladden became Chancellor at Seabury in 2005. He and his wife live in Evanston.
