Academic programs at Seabury bring together theology and practice, heritage and contemporary culture, reflection and action. Every offering at Seabury can be taken for academic credit, continuing education units, or simply for the love of learning. This means each course brings together people from widely differing backgrounds with widely differing interests: lay people, clergy, those preparing for ministry, those enriching their lives, those building faith communities. At Seabury, you'll find a rich mix and a rich conversation.

We have three program areas:

Building Communities of Faith: Growing congregations and new faith communities. Preaching. Discerning and developing ministries. Strengthening the connection between spirituality and action. These are essential to building, supporting, and growing healthy, vibrant communities of faith.

We offer a D.Min., diplomas and certificate in congregational development, in collaboration with Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP), built on Seabury's great strength in this area and expanding to incorporate new innovative courses and programs. Our Congregational Development courses are online with intensive short stays on the Seabury and CDSP campuses. We also offer a D.Min. in preaching in collaboration with the other seminaries in the Association of Chicago Theological Schools. Both of our D.Min programs are accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools.

In both our congregational development and preaching programs, we bring together expert practitioners, leading thinkers, and inspired leaders for periods of study, reflection, and conversation, framed by worship and enlivened by our shared commitment to making God's presence known.

Equipping People for Ministry: New challenges, new contexts, enduring commitments, enduring trust in God. Ministry in the 21st century entails praying, leading worship, preaching, studying and teaching Scripture, providing pastoral care, and community leadership and community organizing, reaching out to those beyond the church, and forming the character of a community and its participants.

To equip God's people to serve the church today and tomorrow, we offer a diploma and certificate in Anglican Studies that offer the equivalent of a full year of study in ministry in the Anglican tradition. Courses are online with intensive short stays on the Seabury campus.

We also offer non-degree courses and programs for lay leaders and clergy.

Enriching People in their Faith: Exploring. Learning. Discerning. In today's multicultural world, people from all walks of life and all faith traditions want to know more about Christianity and other faith traditions with the depth only a university level of instruction provides. Each of our courses and programs includes time for worship and time for reflection. Our worship is shaped by the Book of Common Prayer and includes innovative forms, content, and music. Participants are invited to help plan and conduct worship as well as to take part.
