We have received word that the Rev. E. William (Bill) Pounds (1960), died in his sleep Sunday night. Bill has served as a priest and leader in the Colorado diocese since the early 1970s. A native of Smith County, Kansas, he attended seminary at Seabury Western, and was awarded a BD. Bill was ordained to the transitional diaconate in June of 1960 and to the priesthood in December of that year. He served parishes in Nebraska and Wyoming before going to Colorado in 1972 to serve as director of Trinity Ranch, which was then the center of the diocese’s camping ministry. In Colorado, he also served at Grace Church in Colorado Springs, and he served the diocese in many different capacities, including as a member of both a diocesan commission on aging, and a diocesan commission on youth. He also served on the Commission on Ministry, and as chair of the bishop search process that resulted in the call to now Bishop Robert O’Neill. Please also pray for Bill’s wife Ann, and his children who grieve his loss.
The funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at 8545 E. Dry Creek in Centennial on Saturday, October 20 at 3 PM with a reception to follow.
